The Bilingual Village

Mission, Vision, and Goals

Our Mission

The Bilingual Village builds home, school, and community connections that foster second language learning, cultural exchange, and understanding.

Our Vision

The Bilingual Village aims to increase awareness and appreciation of the personal and societal benefits of speaking two or more languages.

Our Goals

The Bilingual Village intends to develop a fundable research agenda examining the transfer of what is learned in the classroom to real-world application with community partners.

Funding Sources for the Bilingual Village

Currently, the Bilingual Village is participating in a grades PK-3 USDOE OELA NPD Grant entitled Project ELITE (English-Learner Infused Training and Experience) that funds family and community engagement activities in Orange, Pinellas, and St. Lucie Public Schools. Board members are actively seeking grant and partnership opportunities to fund the expansion of the Bilingual Village.

As a 501C3 non-profit corporation, the Bilingual Village welcomes donations to fund operating costs, special projects, and research.

Leadership Team

Bilingual Village originated from a US Department of Education Office of English Language Acquisition initiative, the Dual Language Support through Technology Enhanced Programs and Strategies (DL STEPS) NPD grant. Initially focused on family and community engagement in K-12 dual language schools in Greater Orlando and Tampa Bay, it has evolved into an independent non-profit corporation. Beyond K-12, our mission now extends to various educational levels, including adult and preschool programs, as well as different organizations and regions.
